We contributed a track to this compilation CD for the Aceh punk community that were detained and "re-educated" by authorities last December — Sivle Si Dog’s “Punk Rock Ruined My Wardrobe” just seemed so appropriate. There are lots of other great bands on here, so check it out.
Razorcake review of Drain-O re-issue
The newest issue of Razorcake magazine (#59) has a review of the re-issue of Sivle Si Dog’s Drain-O 10 ” EP:
"A reissue of this North Carolina band’s 1994 debut. This is what it’s all about. Small town outcasts hell-bent on flipping out the squares. But this music isn’t punk so much as grunge. Not that Pearl Jam shit. This would scare the Capri pants off sorority girls. It’s snide, murky hard rock, like Mudhoney, Tad, and Fitz Of Depression. While not essential, especially if you don’t already own “Superfuzz Bigmuff,” this is an interesting document of what was going on in the punk scene in those odd couple of years between Nirvana and Green Day. Bonus points for the anti-Bush song being about the first President Bush. Four studio tracks, two decent-sounding live ones."

Not too shabby. Check out the 10″ on the ‘Releases’ page for yourself!
MaximumRocknRoll reviews Drain-O re-issue
Sixteen years after it’s release, MaximumRocknRoll has reviewed Sivle Si Dog’s Drain-O EP. In part, here is what they say:
“First song is awesome and got me goin’ in a good ANTISEEN hate groove, then the other two on that side got way boring. Side B is better. Reminds me of a lot of bands seen at the Kennel Club, I-Beam and Chameleon in the late ’80s and early ’90s like PLAINFIELD, GROTUS, SURGERY, etc. A little dated but worth a listen.”
I can live with that. If you want to check it out for yourself, Drain-O (and the superiorRoom 30) is available under the RELEASES tab above.
Also, I finally got some MP3 files up for Drain-o and Room 30. I’ll try to get at least one file up for all future releases.
Room 30 re-release is out
We’re proud to announce that the re-release of Sivle Si Dog’s final recording — the face-blistering room 30 – is NOW AVAILABLE. Recording in their Allston, MA practice space, room 30 captures the band at the peak of their passion and fury. The addition of Nathan Coscia on second guitar gave the band an even heavier sound, and songs like “Gank” and “The Wedding Song” are examples of the pummeling catchiness of the band right before they disbanded.
SIVLE SI DOG’S Drain-O re-released
Girth Records is proud to announce the re-issuing of our very first release: Sivle Si Dog’sDrain-O EP on 10” vinyl. The EP is over 16 years old. And it shows: with songs about the commercialization of indie culture with the marketing of Grunge ©, AIDS/homophobia/racism, and a rather naïve (considering what was awaiting us) rant about George Bush SR. But the EP is an interesting document of a particular time and place. The Drain-o debut captures the sound of a bunch of punks operating in almost complete isolation in the mountains of North Carolina, far from any supportive punk scene. Coming out of the region around Boone, NC, there was no other band like Sivle Si Dog. The scene was dominated by hippy jam bands and Sivle Si Dog stood out like a sore, puss-filled thumb. The band eventually moved to Boston around 1996, slowly building up a strong following in places like The Rat, TT’s, and Jaques. They released two full-lengths,Ham Biscuit and Room 30, over the next few years. The band disbanded in 1997, with a few of the remaining members mutating into Cops on Crutches and, later, Anushka Pop and Mantooth.
Drain-O is the sound of a band finding their own voice, surrounded by hostile hippy jam bands and a stagnant bluegrass/folk music scene. Yeah, it is almost two decades old, but the passion and anger is still there. Released at the time when vinyl was (seemingly) dying and the 10” was the unwanted bastard child, the EP captured a wide array of bad business decisions. Almost two decades later, Girth Records continues to make stupid choices and we’re proud of that. Instead of giving up the ghost, we’ve got more new releases in the pipeline. But it seems fitting to announce our return to the field with the re-issue of our very first release.
